

Can Mass Shootings Be Prevented?
Targeted violence and mass shootings in the United States in 2023 has established record highs from January to May. During this time frame we have had 22 mass shootings resulting in four or more victims killed.
One of the latest shootings occurred May 6 in Allen, an upscale suburb of Dallas, Texas, when a young man opened fire in the parking lot of a shopping mall. The carnage left eight killed.

Red Flags – Warning Signs Missed Again
On May 14, 2022, Payton Gendon opened fire in a predominantly black neighborhood killing ten people. Gendon, a white man, had a history of making threats.
Law enforcement investigated Gendon when he made threats at Susquehanna High School in Conklin, New York. Unfortunately, law enforcement discounted Gendon as a threat to himself or others, and his name and personal data was not entered into the “red flag” database that would have denied him from purchasing weapons.
